Der Name „brass band frankfurt“ ist vielleicht nicht jedem gleich geläufig, aber „Salvation“, eine Aufnahme, die Musik des einstigen Soloposaunisten des Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Christian Sprenger, präsentiert, ist tief verwurzelt in der Posaunenchortradition, die das Repertoire der deutschen Kirchenmusik des 15. Jahrhundert pflegt.David Child äußerst sich voller Begeisterung: „Jeder Spieler trägt zum beeindruckend homogenen Klang der Band bei. Soprano, Flügelhorn, Cornet, Posaune und Euphonium bekommen reichlich Gelegenheit zum Glänzen, und genau das tun sie.“Über die Musik selbst schwärmt Christopher Thomas: „Die Musik ist von den Lutherischen Chorälen inspiriert, aber erst die Fertigkeit und der kreative Einfallsreichtum des Komponisten verwandeln die vorwiegend geistliche Musik in etwas ganz anderes, wobei die emotionale Tiefe beibehalten wird. Die Musik passt auch hervorragend zum dem symphonischen Klang des Frankfurter Ensembles.“Thomas Dunne stimmt dem zu: „Arrangeur und Dirigent, Hans-Reiner Schmidt, nutzt die gesamte Färbung der Brass Band und des Schlagwerks, um Sprengers Musik zum Leben zu erwecken und dabei ein neues musikalisches Fest zu erschaffen, welches es zukünftig gut in die Programme anderer Bands schaffen könnte.“

„Brass Band Frankfurt might not be an immediately recognisable name to many, but `Salvation`, a recording that features music by erstwhile Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra principal trombonist, Christian Sprenger, is rooted in the trombone choir that dominated German church music repertoire of the 15th Century. David Childs glowingly compliments the ensemble and observed: „Every player contributes to the band´s impressive homogenous sound. Soprano, flugel, cornet, trombone and euphonium are given ample opportunity to shine, and they do just that“. Of the music itself, Christopher Thomas enthuse: „The music takes its inspiration form Lutheran chorales, but the skill and creative ingenuity of the composer succeeds in taking what is essentially sacred music and morphing it into something very different, whilst still retaining its emotional depht. It is also music that is superbly suited to the symphonic sound of the Frankfurt based ensemble.“Thomas Dunne concurred: „Arranger and conductor, Hans-Reiner Schmidt, uses the full colour of the brass band and percussion section to bring Sprenger´s music to life, and in doing so presents a feast of new music that could well find its way onto the programmes of other bands in the future.“
